New EP from Udachi and iBeat

New York ravager of parties Udachi has a new EP out on Palms Out Sounds featuring the knob-twiddling wizardry of his old Staten Island pal iBeat. The EP is called 'Swagger' and came out yesterday with remixes from Baobinga, AC Slater, Tactic, Deathface (of Guns N' Bombs fame) & Andreas Bygdell.

Throwing elements of tropical, new york heavy bass, kuduro and good old fashioned rave into the mixing pot, with a storming 808-filled bounce from Baobinga. But as ever when he's on the remix rosta, it's AC Slater's heavy bass remix which is sure to become a classic in the clubs.

While you wait for your copy to download, why not stream the EP below or listen to Udachi's delightful Swagger Promo mixtape? Don't expect to be welcome here if you don't. Oh, and the Baobinga remix is there for you to download as well, you ungrateful oiks.

Kastle - Better Off Alone

The artist formerly known as B.Rich has set himself up for a promising year with this instant classic. Barrett "Kastle" Richards has taken on a dubbier sound with an almost housey edge to it.

It used to be that the UK had the monopoly on bass, but recently America, mainly the east coast, has started to take over. Artists such as Drop The Lime, AC Slater, Udachi and of course B.Rich stormed the scene with massive bass-heavy "choons" and "club-bangers".

Naturally, it seems appropriate to post a track featuring two of the biggest names in US bass: Kastle and Udachi. The original is a very mellow bassy piece reminiscent of Burial with a house twist. Now I have to warn you it does feature auto-tune. Luckily, it manages to pull it off by exercising some restraint and it does make it sound like it's underwater, which kinda fits.

Starkey adds a nice ravey horn-through-a-buzzsaw line to bang it up but it's Udachi's Funky mix that does it for me with the most awesome drum samples I've ever heard. Honestly, if you're not sure about Funky listen to this tune. A lot. Then listen to Willy Joy's Funky/soca mix or I'll slap your knees.

Under his B.Rich moniker it was more fast heavy bass drops and ghetto/hip-hop samples but with Kastle his productions have taken on a much dubbier, techy sound - lots of arpeggiated synths and handclaps. Definitely the beginning of big things for this chap.

Stand out tracks: Udachi Mix, Willy Joy Mix

New Udachi single 'P-Funk Skank'

New York bassmeister Udachi has a new single, 'P-Funk Skank', which came out a few days ago on Party Like Us Records with remixes from Costello, B.Rich, Ricorb and Nadastrom. It's his first since last year's 'Jellyroll' and only his second original release as Udachi. As expected, the PLUR crew were beside themselves with glee:

"Party Like Us Records is back! Coming off the heels of his collaboration with Jubilee (Paypur/Smoke Rings EP) on the Nightshifters label, Udachi finally delivers his long awaited first original production since the underground favorite "Jellyroll" that came out on Trouble & Bass last summer. "P-Funk Skank" is a full on uplifting peak time party track with hands in the air brass horns and twisted bass driving the tune."
Here's a little teaser of the video as well:

You can grab the little rascal at Beatport so the poor bugger can eat. While you set about doing that, why don't you indulge in some free stuff so kindly offered up by Mr. Udachi himself?

Sunshine Superman

The wonderfully talented and generous, if not shittily named, Tommie Sunshine has offered his Soundcloud page up to the world for a good hard pillaging. In fairness, as bad as Tommie Sunshine is, Sammy Bananas is quite a bit worse and he does seem to be the perfect balance between techy geek and tongue-in-cheek fun peddler.

Señor Sunshine has been making music for some time now and is a staple of the thriving New York club scene, regularly touring with such luminaries as Drop The Lime, Udachi and B.Rich. His remixes have always proved to be at least fun, if not banging to the maximum.

On his page you can find remixes of Gossip, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and even - vomit - Armand Van Helden. It's a really cool way to find bands you haven't heard before and to hear crap tunes reimagined as good ones. Oh, and there's a couple of Tommie Sunshine originals to get you in the party mood.
