New Drop The Lime rockabilly project!

Rockabilly is apparently the way forward according to Diplo and Drop The Lime. Recently Drop The Lime announced the formation of a new band: Bad Lupo Grande (that's Big Bad Wolf to you).

The first single 'Rockabilly Fever' comes out on August 17th on of Scion. Not sure even with Luca’s backing if rockabilly will really take off but it's an interesting effort at a time when everyone seems to be playing it pretty safe. Leave it to Drop The Lime to shake things up, keep things wild, and show off some well-versed creativity.

New Sharkslayer mix for Top Billin

The very awesome Top Billin have just posted a new DJ set in their series, produced by Finnish duo Sharkslayer.

Here's what XLR8R.com had to say about things:
"Sharkslayer's mix is bass-heavy and club-ready, to be sure, but in ways less typical than most. XLR8R producers of interest Drop the Lime, Egyptrixx, Cosmin TRG, and Supra1 all make appearances throughout the set's hour-plus runtime, along with exciting contributions from a handful of low-end-dedicated dance music's lesser known tunesmiths."

New 77 Klash EP out soon

MC for Major Lazer 77 Klash has a new EP produced by Drop The Lime and AC Slater out on Trouble & Bass this week called 'Shadow Of Death'. A video for the title track is on its way.
"77 Klash is a Brooklyn based artist, raised in NYC, Jamaica and even spent some time on the west coast and this EP really showcases Klash’s spectrum; from angsty mob stomping aggression like on Shadow of Death, to the socio-politcal activist mentality on Dangerous Nights to the sunshine inspired love song No Turning Back. Klash is all about it on this EP, even going hard on the epic Supra 1 Remix of Little Jinder’s Polyhedron instrumental."
In the mean time you can stream the whole EP on his Soundcloud page or download the title track below before you buy!

Drop The Lime remixes Femme En Fourrure for Discobelle

Since Discobelle made the transition from blog to digital label, they've been putting out a lot of strong releases from relative unknowns. Shrewdly, they've used their impressive online stature to attract the remixing talents of a lot of big names. Case in point: they're giving away Drop The Lime's remix of Femme En Fourrure's new tune 'Dirty Blonde'.

You can get yourself a copy of the whole release at Beatport.

New AC Slater single on Trouble & Bass!

Trouble & Bass stalwart AC Slater has been rather busy of late. His new single 'Take You' with Ninjasonik has been released along with his contribution to the T&B Smashcast series and his mix for Mishka.

I met him briefly at Bangface and drunkenly arranged an interview that never happened, but I can at least vouch that he is a good egg - however hammered he was that night.

His new tune 'Take You' draws together elements of funky, house, bassline and even a touch of grime. Oh, and there's a lovely little piano breakdown reminiscent of Jason Tyler's 'Run Around' from a couple of years ago.

The video was directed and produced by T&B's very own Patrick 'The Captain' Rood, and Edited/DPed by Matt Canada of Control Alt Media. The remixes come from Drop The Lime, Nadastrom, Lee Mortimer and a host of others!

New Drop The Lime tune!

Drop The Lime has fired out a new tune as part of the new 'Heavy Bass Champions Of The World' series before he gets down to all his remix and production duties. This first volume is a club-friendly bassfest full of the usual wobbly basslines and whatnot.

You can grab the little rascal at Beatport, Amazon, iTunes and Turntable Lab.

You should also subscribe to the 'Smashcast' on iTunes for a series of podcasts from the Trouble & Bass team. The second episode sees Kanji Kinetic take to the mp3 decks of steel.

Sunshine Superman

The wonderfully talented and generous, if not shittily named, Tommie Sunshine has offered his Soundcloud page up to the world for a good hard pillaging. In fairness, as bad as Tommie Sunshine is, Sammy Bananas is quite a bit worse and he does seem to be the perfect balance between techy geek and tongue-in-cheek fun peddler.

Señor Sunshine has been making music for some time now and is a staple of the thriving New York club scene, regularly touring with such luminaries as Drop The Lime, Udachi and B.Rich. His remixes have always proved to be at least fun, if not banging to the maximum.

On his page you can find remixes of Gossip, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and even - vomit - Armand Van Helden. It's a really cool way to find bands you haven't heard before and to hear crap tunes reimagined as good ones. Oh, and there's a couple of Tommie Sunshine originals to get you in the party mood.

Wait Oh Wait It's A1 Bassline!

I find myself constantly defending my love of bassline. Whenever anyone hears me profess my love for all things bass I'm always met with derision and mockery: "Really? Bassline? All that DJ Q charvey pop-dance? Are you stupid?"

It's at times like those that I'm grateful for A1 Bassline. The other New Yorkers like B.Rich, Drop The Lime and AC Slater do put out some really amazing releases but they stray so far from the traditional bassline/2-step formula that it becomes hard to define them as bassline.

A1 Bassline, on the other hand, still uses the straightforward four-to-the-floor kicks and clipped synths but he also encorporates elements of Dutch House and Techno into his wobbly pot of gumbo. This year's 'Badman Horror Theme' stormed clubs worlwide and definitely marks him out as one to watch.

Since it's (nearly) Christmas, check one of his latest tunes out, and then head on over to Beatport and buy the flat-out ACE EP 'Bad Man Horror'!
