Happy Birthday Diplo!
Diplo - Florida from Rory on Vimeo.
To celebrate the birth of Mad Decent's founding father Wesley "Diplo" Pentz, some vagabond has uploaded the original 38 minute Florida DVD in its entirety. That's it up there.

Trentemøller - Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go! [Video]

Above all, however, is his inclusion of a theremin player - every nerdy electronica fan's wet dream as well as a live drummer. But apart from anything else his music is just ruddy good stuff.
Below you can watch the official video for 'Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!' (from his latest LP 'Into the Great Wide Yonder'), a live performance at the Roskilde Festival in front of 50,000+ fans who I'm supposedly "appear to be floating".

New AC Slater single on Trouble & Bass!

I met him briefly at Bangface and drunkenly arranged an interview that never happened, but I can at least vouch that he is a good egg - however hammered he was that night.
His new tune 'Take You' draws together elements of funky, house, bassline and even a touch of grime. Oh, and there's a lovely little piano breakdown reminiscent of Jason Tyler's 'Run Around' from a couple of years ago.
The video was directed and produced by T&B's very own Patrick 'The Captain' Rood, and Edited/DPed by Matt Canada of Control Alt Media. The remixes come from Drop The Lime, Nadastrom, Lee Mortimer and a host of others!

Strange days for Strange Boys

Hailing from Austin, Texas (via some other places), they're kind of in the vain of bands like Animal Collective, Passion Pit and very early Rolling Stones. Oh, and there's some Monks thrown in there for good measure too! It's really sleazy, old timey music. If it reminds me of any one thing it's of scruffy teenagers in cheap leather jackets playing garage and blues tunes on shitty guitars with far too much distortion.
Most of all, I love the production; nowadays everything's so slick and polished that there's very little discernable difference. In fact, you'd be forgiven for thinking they all had the same producer working on them. So let's all thank the good lord Jahova for The Strange Boys.

A work of comic genius

According to a recent interview with Vice Magazine, they produce "rap-rave next level shit" in a mixture of Afrikaans and English. Unbelievably, they're completely serious in what they do - which only adds to the hilarity.
Die Antwoord are Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek. They've had so much publicity of late because of the Enter The Ninja video that their original website hosters removed their site because of bandwith-buggery. Since then they've relocated to a US-based server and have signed with Sony. Honestly.
And if you wondered what in the shit "Zef" was, Watkin "Ninja" Tudor Jones (least cool name ever, by the way) explains all:
"Zef is our flavour, our style. It means fucking cool. But even more cool than fucking cool. No one can fuck with your shit. Zef’s the ultimate style, basically."You really should read the Vice interview. It's a total stitch-up but it's hard to sympathise when they invite it so fervently.

DJ Donna Summer - Raw [Video]
DJ Donna Summer - Raw from Nightshifters on Vimeo.
Here's the video for DJ Donna Summer's new single 'Raw' out early next month on Nightshifters. This is definitely one for the wee small hours when you're so slaughtered the rooms spinning faster than the records and the only thing keeping you standing is the reverberations from the bass.
So look out for this bad mother, and stay tuned over the next couple of months for Donna's opening mix in the Kick Out The Jam mixtape series AND an interview with the man himself!

Joy Orbison - She Dressed In Her Best (Video)
I'm glad to be able to show you why Joy Orbison is so good, instead of showing you on of his remixes. It really reminds me of those great records by Four Tet or Amon Tobin. You can hear the influence of Aphex Twin's squelchy acid synths as well in what is a well balanced blend of dubstep, acid and IDM.
